School meals

A healthy and balanced diet is important for learning, and we offer a range of nutritious school meals to keep our pupils fuelled for the day.

How to apply for free school meals

Free school meals are managed by your local authority. To check if you qualify and to apply, visit Torbay Council. If your application is successful, both you and the school will receive confirmation, and the entitlement will be processed automatically.

Who is eligible for free school meals

From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, FSM eligibility has been expanded to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household earnings. Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • are in receipt of income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • receive the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • meet criteria set out in separate guidance for families with no recourse to public funds
How to pay

School meals can be booked and paid for via the Arbor Parent Portal/App.

Bringing a packed lunch

Pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home. We encourage healthy choices, such as fresh fruit, vegetables, and wholegrain foods, to support their learning and wellbeing throughout the day.

Being aware of allergies

If your child has any dietary requirements or allergies, please inform the school so we can make suitable arrangements. Please be aware of allergies of other pupils and follow any guidance you get from school about what food can be brought in from home.
